In a quest to learn more about what Discovery Education had to offer, I came upon a set of media tools that could be purhcased in addition to what video streaming had offer. So I clicked on the link thinking that it could never be that simple, but it was. What I found was a high-quality set of assessment, lesson planning, and text-based and mulit-media tools like books that talk all available online. I shared this with the directors of curriculum, technology, and the Strath Haven Middle School science department. With full support, we've been piloting Discovery Education Science by testing and integrating a wide-variety tools available through an inexpensive building-wide license. Recently the special education department began using the elementary suite of tools for their students. It's a great technology tool for supporting diffrentiated instruction. Currently, there is discussion around swapping funds for new textbooks for laptop carts and a robust set of subscriptions and licenses of computer- and web-based science applications.
